Virtue Recovery Center blends top-tier clinical care with a refined, retreat-like experience—where healing feels both exceptional and deeply personal.
48-bed luxury residential facility
World Class Chef
Outings for clients including offsite NA/AA groups in the community
On-site haircuts twice monthly
Service animals and ESAs accepted
Killeen’s program goes further than standard residential — in modalities, in veteran specialization, and in how it treats the people who walk through the door.
Warriors Path: Built by Veterans. Led by Veterans
Killeen is one of the only residential facilities in Central Texas with a dedicated track for veterans and first responders. Warriors Path addresses the full weight of military service. Veteran peer specialists available throughout your stay. TriWest accepted.
Guided Equine Therapy
Off-site equine therapy every other week — not an occasional add-on. Working with horses is one of the most researched experiential approaches for trauma, emotional regulation, and building trust. Killeen has it built into the schedule.
Sound Healing
Sound healing is listed among Killeen’s exclusive modalities. It is rare at the residential level and is part of what makes the experiential programming here genuinely different.
Pet therapy
Canine-assisted therapy is available at Killeen — separate from and in addition to the equine program. Two experiential animal-based modalities in the same residential setting.
4/7 Monitoring. Safety From the First Hour
Nursing staff are always available throughout your stay. You are monitored around the clock to ensure the highest level of safety — from the moment you arrive through every stage of withdrawal.
Trauma Informed Care
Our team prioritizes safety, trust, and emotional awareness, making sure care is paced appropriately and always grounded in respect for each person’s lived experience.
A Full Multidisciplinary Medical Team
Medical director always available. Psychiatric services on-site. Our team includes nurse practitioners, RNs, LVNs, masters-level clinicians — and CPS-certified pediatric specialists. Recovery coaches coming soon as part of our growing continuum.
Alumni Group + Family Group
Recovery doesn’t end at discharge. Killeen runs an active alumni group and dedicated family group — and clients participate in regular community outings including Codependents Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, helping build real-world connections and lasting support beyond treatment.
There is a version of this where you keep managing it — limiting it, hiding it, promising yourself it will be different next month. And there is a version where you stop. Killeen is built for the second version. The people who come here aren’t weak. They are exhausted from being strong. If that’s where you are — or where someone you love is — this is the call worth making.
Killeen handles both levels — medical detox through to residential treatment — with the same team, in the same setting.
Medical Detox
Medically supervised withdrawal management. Doctor and psychiatric services both available on-site. Methadone detox handled with medical oversight. No phone during detox — full focus on stabilization. Same-day admissions available.
Residential Treatment (RTC)
48-bed luxury residential program. Structured daily programming, individual therapy, Warriors Path veteran track, equine therapy, sound healing, dog therapy, music and art therapy, yoga. The core of your recovery.
Intensive daily programming while beginning to reintegrate. Six hours of structured treatment, five days a week — with continued medical and clinical oversight.
Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
Flexible treatment that fits around work, family, and daily life. Three to five days a week with continued individual therapy, group sessions, and relapse prevention support. Virtual IOP also available.
Sober Living
Structured, supportive housing for clients transitioning out of residential or outpatient care. A bridge between treatment and independence — with peer accountability built in.
Alumni Program
Recovery doesn’t end at discharge. Our alumni group keeps you connected — to the community, the staff, and the people who walked the same road. Regular AA and NA meetings, community outings, and ongoing peer support that stays with you long after treatment ends.

I just did the 33 day program here and the staff was phenomenal! The therapists and case managers were on top of everything and made my recovery process so much easier. They were there for me from beginning to end. The nursing staff was on top of my meds and I never had any issues. Thank you Virtue for helping me grow and become the woman I am today. I couldn’t have done it without you! I have learned so much about myself and the disease I have to live with. You’ve given me the tools I need to help keep the disease at bay. Although it was hard for me to be away from my family, I would do it again because I am stronger now. The facility was nice and the food was amazing! Anything that I couldn’t eat because of diet, they always had something I could eat and made it for me! I’m gonna miss y’all but thank you again for helping my recovery and helping me leave a better and healthier person! Love y’all!!

You will not go hungry in this establishment. I drove from Houston last minute as they were out of beds and I was in need of a treatment facility, they let me know immediately there was an in Killeen. Where the hell is Killeen, I thought. It’s the place you want to be when you’re in need of help. The BHT team is led by Naomi who is a gem. She will give you the rundown and hold it down so you can unbecome the things you do not want to be anymore. It truly is an experience and they truly care for their clients and Felix my therapist, protects his clients because he cares. You should be lucky to have him as yours.
I hope their art therapy gets better though. I’m a firm believer in assimilation through illustration because everyone deserves a chance to express themselves in that manner. You can paint a picture any way you want.

I can not say enough on how Virtue has saved me from myself in my addiction to alcohol! My whole life has changed for the better! Everybody here has been so supportive and caring! My counselor was Felix! He is such an amazing counselor! You’d be lucky to get him or anyone here. They are all awesome! Kenya the chef and her crew make the best meals! You will be fed well!
If I can give some advice! Do the work. Put it in! It will be so worth it 👌 I am proud to say that I am now 178 days sober! An accomplishment i could have not done on my own! Thank you Virtue!
